2007 •  MRS. AMERICA PAGEANT •   MRS.  WORLD

AN AMERICAN INSTITUTION

The MRS. AMERICA PAGEANT focuses the attention of the nation and the contemporary married woman. What begins each year as a quest for beauty becomes an discovery of the attributes that make the total woman truly beautiful---her sensitivity, her boundless spirit, her unwavering determination and resourcefulness.

In 1976 David Marmel noted that all pageants had one thing in common: they discriminated against the married women. In effect, once a woman took her marriage vows, she was no longer eligible for beauty contests. Marmel rejected that philosophy. He believed instead that the American married woman was emerging out of kitchen and into every facet of the contemporary scene.

Since then, his vision has become a reality. Today's, MRS. AMERICA'S popularity, both here and abroad, has earned it the distinction of being the largest pageant system in the world and the fastest-growing pageant in the United States. Now in its 31st  year, the tradition celebrates the vitality and the virtuosity of all married woman. MRS. AMERICA, as wife and mother, stands as the symbol and the inspiration of the family unit.
